I spent my first two years after undergrad teaching 10th and 11th grade math. I've been tutoring part-time for over 5 years since on a part-time basis totaling 1500+ hours of service.
I've taught SAT and ACT prep courses many times, both one-on-one and in a classroom setting. My one-on-one students see an average improvement of 130 points (out of 1600) on the SAT after a 20 hour unit.
I enjoy working with students of all levels, but especially those that are struggling to make sense of a bunch of equations and formulas. I've often found that once students understand why they are doing something, the calculations come very naturally.
HobbiesPlaying intramural soccer, watching college football, listening to country music, cooking new dishes, and programming.
Client Reviews (2)
We were very pleased with Adam's work with our granddaughter as she prepared for both the SAT and ACT. She was in need of remedial instruction in some areas as well as basic review in general. Adam was very effective in meeting these needs, teaching and reteaching when necessary. He is a patient tutor and developed an excellent rapport with our granddaughter. He provided her with appropriate strategy for each test. We would highly recommend Adam as a tutor and would not hesitate to employ his services again!
