Marina K.
Private tutor in Palo Alto, CA
Education
Palo Alto Senior High School: graduated 2014, 3.94 unweighted GPA Harvey Mudd College: incoming freshman, computer science major
Experience
I have tutored pre-calculus and calculus for two years at Palo Alto Senior High school, and I am currently preparing an introduction to programming camp for middle school students. I have been a counselor and junior counselor through the City of Palo Alto for 4 years, working mostly with kids ages 5-10, and I also have some experience with middle school kids. I love being tutor because I enjoy sharing knowledge with others. Education is the key to success in our society, and the people that succeed are the ones with the opportunity to discover their talents. I believe that, in tutoring, I can help guide people in the right direction so that they themselves can achieve their full potential. I have taken math through BC calculus, receiving a department award in math, and AP computer science, receiving an A+ both semesters. This year, I was awarded the Sandra Forsythe Memorial Scholarship (awarded to one senior girl who excels in both math and computer science). I was the vice president on my school's ZERO Robotics team (a programming competition) and a co-president of the Physics Club. SAT (Superscored): Math - 790 Reading - 670 Writing - 750 SAT II: Math II - 800 Physics - 800

Hobbies
I like music (I play the French horn), soccer (I'm a defender and 4'11" goalkeeper) and creative writing. In my free time, I can be found working on my nth and hopefully final edition of a novel, learning new programming languages, or, to be completely honest, watching a bit of Star Trek.
