Experience
Striving for an top-notch test score, or mastering math and physics classes, can be daunting and frustrating. Sometimes a teacher doesn’t explain the material well, or abstract concepts don’t quite click. That’s why I bring patience and a positive attitude to my tutoring. I use a technique of offering multiple explanations for each concept, rooting my explanations in content the student already understands. I like to build a rapport with students in early lessons by learning their interests and extracurriculars. I find this helps me communicate in a way that works for the student and makes for a friendly, comfortable relationship. I can boast of raising a D- student to an A in high school physics, of several 100-point+ boosts in SAT scores, and of sharing dozens of “aha” moments with budding mathematicians. It gives me satisfaction to see my students deeply grasp concepts and improve in their areas of study. I’ve taught all levels of math from pre-algebra to AP calculus, physics (including mechanics, circuits, and E&M), and many standardized tests. My client base is mostly high-school level but I’ve taught children as young as 9 and offer help for college students as well. I scored 2400 on the SAT and carry a bachelors in engineering physics and masters degree in materials science engineering from Stanford, so I’m well equipped to answer questions students have. In 2015 and 2016 I worked with an elite California tutoring agency with a reputation for producing top marks in standardized tests. I coach SAT, SAT Subject Tests (SAT II), ACT, and ISEE, among others. Since there are conceptual connections between all fields of math and physics, and shared techniques across test formats, I’ve found it productive to have mastery in teaching a wide range of subjects.

Hobbies
I just finished up my master's, and now I'm tutoring while I travel and study for the LSAT. Currently I'm in Mexico City practicing my Spanish, volunteering at a shelter for refugees, and partaking in far too much of the ice cream that's sold on every corner. My passions are clean energy, the outdoors, and spending time with my shepherd mix, Mandela.
